Dr Donna McCook
Donna is dual-qualified in Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology, with over 25 years’ clinical experience supporting people through menopause, healthy ageing, injury rehabilitation, and weight management.
She works with individuals across the lifespan to improve mobility, strength, fitness, body composition, and long-term health — particularly when hormonal changes and midlife transitions make progress feel more complex. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based exercise, strength training, and practical lifestyle strategies, with a strong emphasis on maintaining muscle mass, supporting bone health, and building sustainable habits that fit real life.
Alongside her clinical work, Donna is completing a PhD focused on strategies to reduce muscle and bone loss during weight loss, including in individuals using GLP-1 medications. This research lens informs a prevention-minded approach to protecting muscle mass, bone density, and functional capacity while improving weight-related health outcomes.
Donna takes a holistic, patient-centred approach and values working collaboratively with other clinicians to ensure care is aligned, safe, and sustainable.
Menopause Clinic
Within Lifestyle Metabolic’s Menopause Clinic, Donna provides movement, strength, and rehabilitation guidance as part of the multidisciplinary team.
She supports women navigating perimenopause and menopause by addressing the physical changes associated with hormonal transition — including loss of muscle mass, reduced bone density, changes in body composition, and increased injury risk. Her focus is on preserving strength, maintaining functional independence, and improving long-term metabolic health through structured, evidence-based exercise.
Working alongside the GP, endocrinologist, dietitian and healthcare coach, Donna contributes to an integrated care plan that balances medical management with practical, achievable movement strategies tailored to each individual.
